CHA CHA

 Age- 57

Occupation – Administrative Assistant for Capital One

Children – I have a lovely daughter, Shannon, age 31.  She is a pharmacist living near San Francisco, CA with her husband.

When were you diagnosed?  June 2001

How was it found? When I discovered the lump I thought it could be a bone in the center of my chest from my ribs.  Even though the lump felt very small like a pea it was 6 centimeters and had spread downward to my rib cage resulting in a mastectomy, chemo, radiation and reconstructive surgery.

Do you have a family history of breast cancer?  2 aunts & 2 cousins

As a woman what gives you your strength? My strength comes from the memories of my mother, a great role model.  She had faith and would never let anything pull her down.  Plus I am lucky to have great supportive friends.

Briefly state in your own words something about yourself that you want people to know.
I have learned that it's through life's ups and downs that one is truly experiencing a life worth living, for without the peaks and valleys of life it would be like someone on life support without a heart beat at all.

One person CAN make a difference......be that person
