FAQ
- What should I wear to the Gala?
- The event is considered a “semi formal” affair. Last year the attire ranged from tux & formal gowns to suits & cocktail dresses. I would say “acceptable attire” for the location, but no one will be asked to leave for inappropriate wardrobe.
- How were the dancers chosen?
- All of the dancers are breast cancer survivors and are part of the Hawthorne Resource Center support group.
- Who will receive the proceeds for the event?
- 100 % of the net proceeds will be given to the Richmond Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. River City Charities has a signed contract with them for the proceeds.
- Why is this event to benefit Susan G. Komen?
- Our decision to benefit Susan G. Komen Richmond Affiliate was based primarily on their history of most of the funds raised in the community stay here in the community.
- Will River City Charities have other events that will benefit other groups?
- We do plan to have other events through out the year for other groups. The annual October Gala will always be to benefit Breast Cancer.
6. Can I volunteer to help before the event in October?
- Absolutely! We could use help with many areas of this event. To put together an event of this size it takes many people working together.
7. I have a small business but I would still like to sponsors. Are there small sponsorships options?
- We have made sponsorship available to any size business or individual so that everyone can be involved. From presenting sponsorships at $10,000 to $250 ad space in the program. To $65 tickets. Ticket purchases are just as important as sponsorship. It also makes a great gift for your employees or business clients.
8. Will there be smaller events to meet the dancers and buy tickets before the event?
- Yes! If you are a business and would like to host a “Kickoff” event please contact me.
- Can any business donate for the silent auction?
- If you have a business that offers service, gift certificates, or an item and you would like to donate we would greatly appreciate it. If you don’t think you have anything to offer but would still like to give an item you are welcome to purchase something (gift basket, gift card, item, etc) to put in the auction from your business. Example last year Cars.com purchased an IPOD NANO, WRIC gave a Redskin Jacket. Any involvement is welcomed by this charity. No item is too small or too large. We appreciate you help and so does the community.
- Is this event a “boring fund raising event”?
- I promise you, this is the most fun you can have for a great cause. The best party ever. Bring your friends and come help us wipe out breast cancer.
