Name- Susan
Age- 61
Occupation – Executive Admin for Genworth Financial
Children 2 daughters, 1 son and 6 grand kids
When were you diagnosed? July 2002
How was it found? After a regular examination by my doctor and a mammogram, I found 2 weeks later with self-examination which I never really did and don’t know why I happen to do this time, but thank God, I did!
Do you have a family history of breast cancer? No, but 2 ½ years after my surgery, my sister who is 2 ½ years younger than me developed breast cancer also. So I guess now it must run in the family.
As a woman what gives you your strength? I am generally an upbeat, content and happy person, so it takes a lot to get me down. I was worried when first told of my breast cancer, ad cried, but after my friend got me to see Dr. George Knaysi and he discussed my cancer with me, I felt much relief. My mother had died 5 years before my breast cancer from pancreatic cancer. She also had been through melanoma cancer, lung cancer and some minor skin cancers, but through it all, she remained positive and gracious.
Briefly state in your own words something about yourself that you want people to know.
Family is very important to me and I am the coolest grandma!
