I can’t tell you how much I appreciate everyone’s participation in the first annual “Dance for the Cure”. It was a great night and everyone seemed to enjoy the event. We did prove that one person can make a difference, and every one of you who bought a ticket made that difference. We can all be important in the fight against breast cancer and Saturday night you showed that. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing beside me in this fight.
I would especially like to thank the companies that sponsored this event. Your donations, to help offset the cost of the event, truly made it a success. Big thanks also to, Simply Ballroom, and the Latin Ballet of VA for their wonderful performances, the band Another Level for the great live music, all the people who generously volunteered their time to help me, and the staff of The Omni Group, who were spectacular to work with and helped so much in pulling this together. And I can't forget Kat Simons from Lite98 Radio who had the hard job of keeping me on task all night. Thanks. One company in particular, Haley Pontiac GMC and their general manager, Barry Moore, not only gave their financial support to the event, but included us in months of their advertising, took the event on their Showcase Richmond appearances on WRIC, and had their sales staff working to promote ticket sales. They made a huge commitment to this event and I couldn’t have done it without them. They are a great group of people, whether you are buying a car, or trying to spread hope in our city. Their support was enormous. I would urge you in the future, if you need the service that these sponsor companies represent that you give them a chance to prove their business commitment is just as strong as their community commitment. Support the businesses that support the things that matter to you. This was a huge undertaking for one person, and a lot of mistakes were made along the way. I learned a lot about how not to do things. But most of all I learned that strong committed people can make a difference; and we did Saturday night. Maybe not the 100’s of people I hoped to attract, but the ones that were there, were strong, supportive, committed people willing to help in the fight. I enjoyed meeting each and every one of you, and I hope to see you all again next year. This was by far the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. I worked on this for months and I was exhausted, but I came away from the night with a wonderful warm pink feeling of accomplishment, and lots of plans for next year. Thank you again for coming and making this such a special night. One of my mistakes was pictures….I don’t have any. If anyone took any pictures I would love to see them. The photographer will be posting his pictures on his website soon and everyone can buy copies from him if you want. http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/store.aspx?p=36811 I have posted a form below asking for opinions. Tell me what I can do next year to make this event better. I really want to know. Thank you for supporting Dance for the Cure Susan Groves All American Insurers 804-745-0006
